Kabeli B1 HPP


    Kabeli B1 Hydro Electric Project is located in Nagi and Tharpu VDCs of Panchthar District and Sawalakhu, Thumbedin and Chaksibote VDCs of Taplejung district, Mechi Zone, Eastern Development Region of Nepal.

    All major structures of the project are proposed on the left bank of the Kabeli River at Nagi and Tharpu VDCs of Panchthar district. Among the project structures, diversion weir lies across the river that joins Thumbedin VDC of Taplejung district and Tharpu VDC of Panchthar district. Diversion Barrage is proposed just downstream of confluence of Kabeli and Inwa Rivers bordering Thumedin, Tharpu and Sablakhu VDCs. Other components like intake, part Head Race Pipe (HRP) upto Desander of length of about 800m and desander of the project are proposed at the left bank of the river in Tharpu VDC just downstream of the under construction RCC bridge which links Tharpu and Thumbedin VDC.

    About 3960 m long HRP is proposed for water conveyance system that starts from the forebay, constructed adjacent to the desanding basin. The HRP shall be constructed along left valley of the river at Tharpu and Nagi VDC. The surge shaft, powerhouse, switchyard, and tailrace canal lies at Nagi VDC of Panchthar district. The camp house, godown, labor camp and quarry site shall be built at Nagi and Tharpu VDCs.

    Kabeli B1 Hydro Electric Project is having an installed capacity of 25 MW with 3 units of 8.333 MW each.

  • HRP from Desander to Surge Shaft (about 3960m in length)

  • Power Evacuation from project site to Amarpur 132 KV Sub-Station.


    This project is in the tender stage and project infrastructure is under progress.  The developer is M/s Arun Kabeli Power Limited, Kathmandu, Nepal.
